Ultimate Relaxation for Body and Mind.

Reflexology + Relaxation Soundtrack = Ultimate Stress Busting

Life for many of us is hectic, rushed and stressful. Finding time to relax is often a luxury we don't allow ourselves.  Stress management is a vital part of promoting well being.

After a reflexology treatment many of my clients say they can't remember when they last relaxed like that. They talk about how calm they feel and how they feel refreshed and revitalised. Many say they didn't realise how much stress they were holding in their bodies until they let it go. As a therapist it's wonderful to hear that you are helping people to achieve relaxation, but I would love them to be able to take the key to this relaxation home with them in their pocket.

Our bodies and mind learn to associate certain experiences with particular emotions and behaviours. You may smell bread cooking and hear your tummy grumble and feel your mouth watering.  A certain song may take you right back to the summer holiday when you first heard it.  This is a natural process, so why not use it to trigger relaxation?

I have worked with Mark Powlett Hypnotherapist  to create a calm and tranquil soundtrack to truly enhance your relaxation whilst you enjoy your reflexology treatment. This includes beautiful visualisations and guided relaxation.  The soundtrack is a calming and comforting way to optimise your relaxation. A version of this recording can then be yours to use at home.

Your mind and body will associate this soundtrack with your relaxing reflexology treatment.  When you listen to the soundtrack in-between your reflexology appointments you can easily feel that deep sense of relaxation. You really will have a key to relaxation in your pocket!

Therapeutic massage, a slow calm and effective approach

We all have our own ideas about what makes a great therapeutic massage. Many people expect the painful pummelling and pressing on knots and tight muscles, whilst others prefer a relaxing gentle rhythmic massage. Whatever we expect to feel during the massage we all want to feel positive results from the treatment.

A massage technique called myofascial release absolutley provides results, and it combines both expectations of massage treatment. The massage technique is slow and calming whilst also being deep and intense, you can actually feel your tissues releasing the tightness and tension. For me this is a perfect combination.

Myofascial release techniques focus on relaxing deep tissue within the body providing lasting and effective relief.  Myofascial release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure which works to free restrictions and can relieve pain and restore motion.  Each Myofascial Release Treatment session is performed directly on skin without oils, creams or machinery. This enables the therapist to accurately detect restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to help release them.  Myofascial release is a very effective treatment that can significantly improve many soft tissue and orthopedic conditions.

During a massage treatment a multitude of Myofascial Release techniques can be used, and they can be combined with other massage techniques to provide a treatment tailored for each individual.  A massage does not have to be vigorous to work wonders on your aches and pains.  Working with your body to ease away tightness and restrictions can feel great and really benefit your wellbeing.

Treats for mums and mums-to-be all year round

It's Mother's Day time again.

Kidderminster is the home of the best mum in the world... my mum! I'm biased of course but mother's day is a great time to make a fuss and pamper the wonderful mums and mums-to-be in our lives.

If its someone's first mother's day that's a really great time to give them the gift of relaxation! It's tough being a new mum and  I know I would have really appreciated some pampering. Mums-to-be don't have to miss out, pregnancy reflexology and massage are available too.  If you want to give a gift from a new baby then  baby reflexology and massage instruction really is a gift for all year round.

The history of Mother's Day is centuries old and goes back to the times of ancient Greeks, who held festivities to honor Rhea, the mother of the gods. The early Christians celebrated the Mother's festival on the fourth Sunday of Lent to honor Mary, the mother of Christ. Interestingly, later on a religious order stretched the holiday to include all mothers, and named it as the Mothering Sunday. So it wasn't just invented by the card companies to make us spend our pennies!

I love treating people to reflexology and massage that has been given to them as a gift, people really appreciate being given this wonderful time to relax. Mums and mums-to-be are so busy rushing around looking after us all that they often don't give themselves the pampering they deserve, so why not treat them?

Whatever you do for mother's day have a great one, and its a reminder to me that I shouldn't have to wait until mother's day to treat my mum!

Show your love on Valentines day .... and every day!

I know Valentines and other "hallmark" days aren't everyone's cup of tea, but I love them.  Yes, I agree its lovely to show people you care without the need for a special day, but a little reminder isn't always a bad idea!

It always makes me smile seeing men walking home from work on Valentine's day with bunches of flowers. The smile soon fades when I look at the prices! The cost of a red roses always makes my jaw drop. But you don't have to pay a premium price for Valentine's treats. Flowers are beautiful but why not try treating someone to relaxing massage or blissful reflexology. Gift vouchers can be purchased from Breathe Holistic Therapy without the increased Valentine's Day price tag.

Mums-to-be* don't have to miss out either. Maternity reflexology and pregnancy massage are wonderful gifts just when you deserve treating most of all.  Ease out aches and pains, relax and rest those tired, swollen feet with therapies designed especially for pregnancy.

Showing your love doesn't have to wait for a special date, but Valentines day can certainly brighten up a dull February, and if valentines isn't your thing then there is always another hallmark day just around the corner!

*treatments available after the 12 week scan.

Back to School

This blog entry is to share a great tool which is simple to learn and effective for many children with school anxiety. Below is a video of a short reflexology routine you can try with your child. There is more information to help you prepare here. You don't have to do it all, just see how you get on following the routine. For more information do contact me 0753 1121199 or e-mail me .

September heralds the start of a new school year, and although it can be an exciting time, for some  children it's just plain difficult.  Many children seem to struggle with anxiety and stress at the start of a new school year. There are many reasons for this and often they are too young to explain what they are feeling and fearing. This can be distressing not only for the child but also the parent who may feel helpless to ease their child's struggle.  The fact is they have to go into school at the start of the day no matter how much they may cry and cling to you.  Not easy.

I'm a mum and know first hand how difficult and exhausting this experience is.  My son struggled with back to school stress every year.  He loves school but found that initial separation difficult after the long fun school holidays.  I have no magic cures but I have found a number of ways to help my son manage stress and overcome anxiety  during this time.

After lots of talking and trying to understand why he was so anxious I decided to try some of the tools I use to help with stress and anxiety. Massage and reflexology can help a child to manage their stress. Baby massage and baby reflexology isn't just for babies! It's great for children of all ages. Some calming reassuring massage for just a few minutes accompanied by lots of positive words about their ability to cope can be a powerful tool.

And finally, don't forget your own needs. It can be draining and painful when our children are suffering and struggling so take time out to relax yourself. It can be hard to remember to be  kind to yourself and not to feel guilty for leaving them at school.

If you want to learn more we are based in Kidderminster Worcestershire area and run one-to-one baby massage and reflexology instruction or you can host a small friendly reflexology/massage home group.

And if all else fails, remember the father Christmas bargaining tool.. all children want to be on the good list!!
